Paper Sundaes Seventh Challenge

Happy Sunday!  This week's challenge at Paper Sundaes has me excited - once again we are featuring one of my sketches! 

Mistakenly I thought this meant my card would fly together.  I had even been inspired by the images at The Stamping Boutique during creation.  Ah well, at the end of the struggle, Audrey looks good and I'm happy.  The image I used was a combination of Audrey at the wishing well and Audrey's wishing well.

The colours in the Pleasures Collection from Magenta reminds me of Spring - hard to imagine it was actually their Christmas release.  Not so surprisingly, I continued the basic design and papers into the inside.

The card will be entered into the Get Well Soon challenge at Creative Card Crew although at this time I am undecided as to whether Audrey is wishing someone well on a recovery, retirement, new job, new house - the possibilities are endless - so the inside is currently a blank slate.

Sassy Cheryl's and Karen's Doodles

As much as I love playing with rubber, I have stumbled across two digital image companies that have me stuffing my on-line shopping cart full!  Karen's Doodles are wide-eyed cherub children and animals such as the Fairy Princess.  Sassy Cheryl's are fresh and exciting with images such as Easter Bunny Snowman.

The paper Blissful Bunny is from the Spring collection by Dear Lizzy and American Crafts, and was used on the inside of the card as well.  This card will be entered into the stitching challenge at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge.

Another of Cheryl's sassy images is Land Swimmer.  I used Versamark pen and Glassy Enamel on the rain drops, puddle, and her mask to add sheen.  With textured Bazzill cardstock, stitching, ribbon, pop dots, and glassy enamel, this card qualifies for the texture challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges and the ribbon challenge at Cute Card Thursday.

The sentiment is from Paper Makeup Stamps and the umbrella stamped on the inside is from Stampin' Up!

I was on a Sassy Cheryl creating spree, so I have one more to share.  This one was coloured with Koh-I-Noor and Lyra coloured pencils and blended with odorless thinner.

The image is called Gentle Friends and will be entered into the challenge at Cupcake Crafts.  The inside was also distressed but left blank to allow for adding a sentiment later.

Okay, apparently I'm a week behind on my Makeup for the Weekend challenges.  Instead of working on the current sketch challenge today, I was working on last week's treat holder.  But hey, since it's done and many of you out there in blog land could use a laugh about the current snow conditions, here is my bad snowman humour:

The snowman is from Paper Makeup Stamps coloured with copic markers.  The top was cut with the Top Note die from Stampin' Up! Bashful Blue cardsock.  I punched snowflakes out of super sparkly cardstock with a Marvy punch and VOILA!  My son does not like chocolate but he'll eat a whole bag of marshmallows (don't ask me how I know that!).

Shaela Fairy for Flutter By Wednesday

Oh joyous Wednesday!  This week the challenge at the Flutter By Wednesday blog is open - just remember to use a fairy, an angel, or a butterfly.  My Paper Makeup Stamps have been sadly neglected as of late, so I practiced my copic feather blending technique on Shaela Fairy.

Shaela is done up following the sketch at the Lili of the Valley Challenge Blog where she will be entered.  To really make Shaela dazzle, I added Stampin' Up! dazzling diamonds to her shoes, wings, cheeks, wand, and dress.

Sorry Shanna and Sweet Tilda

If you want to draw attention to your colouring skills, then the current challenge at Mo's is perfect.  With absolutely NO layers and only ribbon as embellishment, the eye has no where to go except the image you've coloured.  For this challenge I chose Sorry Shanna - a namesake of mine (just kidding!).  My daughter thought she was so beautiful and when I told her the name of the image, there was no stopping her demands until Shanna fell into my basket and was printed for my little princess.

It dawned on me as I anxiously await for the 2010 Magnolia releases at Magnolia-licious, that it has been ages since I've coloured a Tilda!  Oh, my poor heart.  So I quickly grabbed Sweet Tilda and coloured her with copic markers.  Then following the current sketch at Just Magnolia, I used my favorite Magenta paper and roses from Wild Orchids and put together this:

The sentiment on the front is from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, however the one on the inside is from Paper Makeup Stamps.

Mimo and Tossa - Paper Jewels DT

Happy Monday!

Paper Sundaes Sixth Challenge

Happy Sunday!  This week's challenge at Paper Sundaes is distressing.  I began my project with the layout from Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge and used a distressing tool on the edges of the patterned paper before edging them with Color Box chalk ink.  I coloured this brand new Bildmalarna release, Mimosa Butterfly, with Tim Holtz distress inks. 

Ribbon was weaved across the bottom of the card.  The Penny Black sentiment on the inside has been coloured with Stampin' Up! markers.  The edge of the sentiment has been distressed with Color Box chalk ink in Creamy Brown.

Mimosa will be entered into the challenges at The Pink Elephant (ribbon), Cupcake Crafts (keep it simple!) and Roses on Paper (pink, brown, and cream).

Mimosa Spring Card and matching Treat holder

The challenge this past week at Stamptacular Sunday has been to make a treat holder.  

The box is made from Bazzill cardstock and covered with beautiful papers from Magenta's Pleasures Collection.  The flowers were punched from the backside of the same paper covering the treat holder.  The edges of the paper were distressed with Color Box ink and the sentiment "thing spring" was stamped on the holder.

The matching card features Mimosa Chicken now available for pre-order at Paper Jewels.  Mimosa has been coloured with distress inks.

The Penny Black sentiment "Think Spring" which was stamped on the treat holder, was also stamped on the inside of the card.

Little Mimosa is so sorry!

The Spring 2010 Bildmalarna stamps are now available for pre-order at Paper Jewels and due in early March.  There are four new Tossa images, one new Mimo image, and three new Mimosa images - including this adorable Little Mimosa Sorry.

I don't know why Mimosa is sorry but I do know why she has a flower in her hair - shhhh, don't tell anyone I misstamped on my precious Gina K paper!  I continued the layout and stitching on the inside.

The sentiment and umbrella are from Stampin' Up!  The patterned paper is from one of my favorite paper lines this season - My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary.  Mimosa will be entered into the challenges at Stamp Something (A Touch of Spring) and Corrosive (Sew it up!!!).

A Belated Valentine for a Tween

I love Mo's images for tweens and teens.  Today's card is for my friend's daughter who is a "tween" - that lovely in-between stage of life.  When I saw this image I knew it would be perfect for her Valentine.

A Flutter By Wednesday with Susana's

Good morning!  This week there is a special treat at Flutter By Wednesday - for those of you who make a card and link it before Monday, February 22nd at midnight, you will be eligible for blog candy!  This week's challenge is to use hearts with your butterfly, fairy, or angel - apparently I will be fixing my card and posting new pictures later as I appear to have missed a heart or two!  This beautiful image is Tea for Two from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design.

With such a beautiful image, I wanted to keep the card itself simple.  I have long admired to style of Michele Boyer from Paper Cuts so this was my opportunity to imitate her amazing style.  The delightful surprise in this card is the mica paints which were used over the Koh-I-Noor and Lyra coloured pencils which are visible when viewed at certain angles.

 

I continued the simple style on the inside.

In addition to being entered into Flutter By Wednesday, this card will be entered into the challenges at Cupcake Crafts (Keep It Simple), A Spoon Full of Sugar (Spring Time) and the Diedrich Dare (colour challenge).

Mimo's Valentine - Paper Jewels DT

Happy Belated Valentine's Day!  I wanted to sneak in one more valentine's card before saying good-bye to the holiday for the next eleven months.  Isn't Mimo cute, bashfully holding a Tulip behind his back for his sweetheart? 

As promised, for my post this week at Paper Jewels I resisted the call of my copics, and coloured Mimo Tulip with distress inks.  I left lots of room for a mushy love note on the inside of the card.

Mimo will be entered into the mainly red challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges.

Paper Sundaes Fifth Challenge

Happy Valentine's Day!  Today is a wonderful day - not only is it a celebration of loved ones and my wedding anniversary - it is also time for another challenge at Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog.  This week's sponsor is Paper Makeup Stamps with an amazing surprise for the winner - a goody bag of PMS stamps!  I have a personal weakness PMS after having being introduced to their monsters and dinosaurs by a fellow stamper on Splitcoast.  With this week's theme of "A Glittery Spring", I am using one of their Beautiful Day Fairies, Sprout.

Sprout has been coloured with copics using the feather blending technique (check out those wings - I might actually be getting the hang of this!) which is the current challenge at Copic Creations.  The layout is from this week's sketch at Saturday Sketchers.

The Lucy Bird line of patterned papers from Imaginisce are nicely glittered for the theme.  Combined with Bazzill Bling and Stampin' Up dazzling diamonds on her wings, top, and hair - this card is dazzling - which is the exact challenge at Fussy and Fancy!  Sprout will also be entered into the Pollycraft Challenge (things with wings), Pile It On (flowers), Belli Challenge (ribbon) and C.R.A.F.T. (digi colouring).

I continued the basic border and papers inside the card.

Lavinia has something to hide!

The challenge this week at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps challenge blog is to "Stash the Booty"!  The theme compliments their soon-to-be released new pirate stamps by artist Anne Rodrigue.  I have used Lavinia from the Steam Punk release by the same artist last month.  My will power escapes me whenever KKS releases anything by Anne Rodrigue as will be evidence by my disappearing bank balance when the new releases become available at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!

And here's her secret, which will still remain a mystery as I am undecided as to what I want her to share - or who the recipient of this lovely lady will be!

I was inspired by this beautiful paper from webster's pages Postcards from Paris line.  After a fantastic class at the local scrapbook store, I really look at their paper differently.  I cut out several of the hot air balloons from all over the 12 x 12 paper and adhered them, some with foam squares and some not, on the front and the inside of the card. 

The inside of the card begged to use the remainder of the beautiful paper so I willingly obliged.

I apologize for the lack of sentiment, but I'm not sure where she's headed yet.  I coloured Lavinia with copic markers on Prism paper, once again using the feather blending technique.  I am not satisfied with the results on the Prism paper.  Generally I love the Prism with the limited amount of ink required to achieve a nice blend, but it appears to oversaturate with any technique which requires back and forth blending.  Lavinia will also be entered into the challenge at Copic Creations.

Beary Big Hugs for Valentine's Day

The new Elisabeth Bell stamps from Belles 'n Whistles are gorgeous!  One of my favorite stamps is Beary Big Hugs which I've used for the colour challenge at Roses on Paper this week.  I have combined the ROP challenge with the recipe challenge at A Spoon Full of Sugar and the challenge at Friday Sketchers.

The shading technique used on this card is feather blending which is the current challenge at Copic Creations.  The technique takes practice which is why I will be posting a couple more cards using this technique later today and tomorrow.  The recipe at A Spoon Full of Sugar included one patterned paper, one embossed (pink layer is embossed with D'vine Swirls folder), one ribbon (I've cut it in half to use on top and bottom of card), and one button (which is on her headband).

A Valentine for my Daughter - Flutter By Wednesday GDT

When I saw the first fairy, Fairy Fun, from Karen's Doodles, I got excited.  When I saw the Fairy Princess, nothing could have kept me from placing it into my cart!  My daughter at three years of age loves dresses, wands, crowns, and shoes.  She often tells me that I am her "Prince Charming" and we dance around the house - after she carefully ensures that our hands and arms are in the proper waltzing position.  Amazing what she picked up from Disney's The Princess and the Frog.

This week's theme at Flutter By Wednesday is love and I decided to create a valentine for my own fairy princess.

This Fairy Princess will be entered into the challenges at Papertake Weekly (sketch), The Pink Elephant (Mushy Gushy Valentine), Everybody Art Challenge (valentine), Charisma Cardz (I love you), and Crazy 4 Challenges (Be My Valentine).

Mimosa Watering Can - Paper Jewels DT

Happy Monday! Mimosa Watering Can has me dreaming of spring, flowers, and butterflies which is a wonderful way to start this chilly week.

Despite my best efforts, once again I coloured darling Mimosa in my treasured copic markers. Next week I'll challenge myself to use a different colouring medium.

Embellishments include Basic Grey half pearls, Mulberry Street handmade paper flowers, Maya Road chipboard butterfly, and Making Memories acrylic paint. Mimosa was cut out with scalloped circle nestabilities and framed with standard circles. The Martha Stewart pansy border punch reminds me of the pots of pansies I place on our back patio every summer - the perfect finishing touch on my Spring thank you card.

Another Sunday with Paper Sundaes!

Jacob's Table for Two from The Freckle Love Collection at PaperWorks Co. is absolutely adorable.  He was fun to colour with my copic markers. 

To fit better with the sketch, I chose to cut out Jacob and reposition him closer to the table with pop-up dots.

The sentiment which accompanies Jacob did not quite fit in the Fancy Tags which I trimmed to suit the simplistic layout.  I handwrote the last word on the inside with an Atyou glitter pen from PWCO.  I kept the inside clean and simple.
