Valentines for My Monsters

Happy Sunday!  I spent most of the day at a fundraising crop for the Valentine's Day Hair Massacure.  In Edmonton, Alberta and surronding areas there is a lot of support for this annual event which raises money for the Stollery Children's Hospital and Make-A-Wish Foundation.  My seven-year old son is just one of many kids who has dyed their hair "Kali Pink" before the shave-off February 11th.  Brennan first participated when he was five years old, just in kindergarten.  If you are interested in finding out more about this great event check out here.  If you want to check out my son's fundraising page, check out here.

This week's theme at Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog is Valentine's.  While I was at the crop, I happily did up two Valentine's Day cards for my two cute little monsters.  The first card is using "Blobby In Love" from Pink Cat Studios:

The layout is from Papertake Weekly and the papers are from Little Yellow Bicycle's collection last year.

I have kept the inside plain to write a special message for my boy.

Second card is for my little princess and it is featuring Lily Lovebug:

Cute Card Thursday has this adorable sketch which I've used with the same papers from Little Yellow Bicycle.

I've added four gems to the corner as my daughter loves everything four - can you guess her age?

I've added Stampin' Up! dazzling diamonds to Lily's wings and headband.  The inside contains a special message for my daughter:

Thank you for looking!  I look forward to seeing your Valentine's creations on Paper Sundaes for your chance to win five digital images from Pink Cat Studio!

My cards will be entered into the following challenges:

Winter with Tilda

Happy Monday!  What a day yesterday!  Thanks to everyone who is hopping along for Paper Sundaes' First Birthday!  Click here to join the hop.

Today I'm happy to share with you Tilda with Fir:

I followed the sketch at Simon Says Stamp Challenge and the colour challenge at Creative Inspirations.

I had so much fun a couple weeks ago with the calendar challenge at Anyone for Anya and Friends?, that I thought I'd give it another try with Magnolia Down Under!

I thought I'd try the technique from the Christmas Magnolia Ink magazine and I embossed the edges of the patterned paper with winter white embossing powder.

Happy Birthday Paper Sundaes!

***Please click here for my Anyone for Anya and Friends? post***

Oh my how this past year has flown by!  Hard to believe that thirteen months ago my dear friend Christine, in a desperate attempt to boost my mood, suggested we start our own challenge blog.  Christine knew I'd take the idea and run - and she was right!  I tackled blog layout and banner design...and eventually even appointed myself sponsor coordinator and tackled the job of finding sponsors for our young blog.  Now Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog is a year old and has over 550 followers!!

To celebrate we are having a blog hop and a special challenge with multiple prizes!!  If you have arrived here from Alica's blog, then you are on the right track - and almost at the end! If not, please start at Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog and hop along so that you don't miss out on any of the gorgeous creations from the Sundae Girls (and a chance to win some yummy candy!). Remember to collect your word and comment on all of the stops so that you are entered for our SIX amazing blog hop prizes! Your last stop will be back at the beginning where you can leave the sentence you collected along the way in the comments section for your chance to win even more!

Our challenge this week is extra special - we would like you to show us your favorite challenge from the past year! And to celebrate, we have five different prizes for FIVE randomly drawn winners!

I decided to challenge myself to a walk down memory lane and managed to come up with six challenges from this past year that tie into my project!

A Cheeky Valentine

Happy Sunday!  Today is extra special for me as I have two posts - which also explains why I've been so quiet this past week!  I am honoured to have been asked to guest DT on the Anyone for Anya and Friends? challenge blog this week.  Two weeks ago I entered their February calendar challenge and I actually won Tilda in the Garden from the new You Are So Special collection!  AMAZING!  And then to be asked to be a guest - WOW!

This week's challenge on Anyone for Anya and Friends? is "Pretty Bows".  I decided to get a start on my Valentine's Day cards and made one for my husband with Cheeky Beauty:

This layout is from the sketch on Everybody Art Challenge.  My friend Christine tried to help me master my Bow Easy but alas, this bow I tied by hand.

I treated the edges of the patterned paper and sentiments with Stampin' Up! dazzling diamonds and dug into my stash for these papers from Basic Grey's Bittersweet collection released last year.

Miss Anya Calendar Page

On Monday my dear friend Christine pointed out a challenge blog with an unbelievable prize - an exclusive Tilda!  The challenge blog is Anyone for Anya (and CC Designs too!) and it gave me a chance to use my Miss Anya set.  The actual challenge was scary as I've never done a calendar page, but I started colouring Miss Anya and waited for inspiration to hit!  Luckily inspiration did hit this morning, when I saw the sketch from Sketch Saturday:

Puddle Jumper Ella for My Daughter

Happy Monday!  Today I am back as promised with another card featuring my brand new Puddle Jumpers!  This doll is named Ella and can be found on sale right now at Claudio & Co.

I was hoping for a sketch challenge to inspire me today, but alas, this layout is my own.  With the bold colours of this gorgeous collection from Bo Bunny, I kept the embellishments to a simple bow.  I distressed the edges of the patterned paper with Creamy Caramel cats eye and chalked around the image with SU Creamy Caramel.

A huge thank you to my friend Christine for sharing her brand new copics with me so that I could try out a new-to-me colour combination for blondes: E50/Y21/Y26/Y28.

Copic Details
Dress - E00/E01/E11/E20
Belt, underskirt, and shawl - BG10/BG72/BG75
Shoes - E43/E44/E47/E49
Socks - C0/C1
Skin - E000/E00/E02 and chalk on the cheeks

I stamped off once before stamping directly onto the paper in order to achieve a lighter image on the inside of the card.  The sentiment is first generation.

A Puddle Jumper for My Son

During my trip to Jasper with my best bud Christine (and neither monster!), I felt obliged to colour some images for my children.  My son and daughter love when I make them cards, which is a good thing considering it is my passion!  I find it difficult to find images I enjoy colouring for my son.  However I loved stamping my new Puddle Jumper Davey and colouring both him and his pet lizard:

I have flipped and rotated the sketch from The Sweet Stop in order to take advantage of my DP:

I cut the arrow so that I could bring it in front of the image and cut the background paper so that words would be legible.

I am still working on my shading, attempting to get more dramatic contrast that I admire in other cardmakers' images.

My daughter also wanted a Puddle Jumper card, so tomorrow's card will feature Ella.  I had a lovely afternoon at Christine's house but after colouring this little beauty I had to return to my two little monsters!

Davey will be entered into the following challenges:
The Sweet Stop - sketch (flipped and rotated)
Really Reasonable Ribbon - Something New plus Ribbon
Craft Your Days Away - Punch It Out (nestability to cut out Davey and a circle punch to fit patterned paper into the tag)

Thank you for looking! Check out the post below for my Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog card DT card featuring one of the new Magnolias!

Celebrating the New Year with Paper Sundaes

Happy New Year!!!  This week Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog would like you to ring in 2011 by showing us something new!  It can be a new image, paper, embellishment or tool as long as you identify the item in your post.  For my card, I have managed to use a new Magnolia image and new paper.  This Tilda is from the upcoming Magnolia release:

Michelle's Scrapbooking & more carries Magnolia which you can check out here.

I created dimension by "popping up"  Tilda, the green panel annd the sentiment.  I also cut out Tilda wider than usual to try the technique where you dazzle the outside of the image.

As usual, Tilda is coloured with copic markers!  Tilda will be entered into the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp - Time to Party/Celebrate
Creative Card Crew - Birthdays
Just Magnolia - Anything Goes
Secret Crafter Saturday - Buttons and Bows (bow tied in center of button, bows on the paper, and bows in her hair!
Crazy 4 Challenges - Celebrate Something
Totally Tilda - Ribbons and Roses
Copic Creations - Sparkle
Magnolia-licious Highlights - 4 Flowers, 3 Pattered papers, 2 Magnolia image, 1 Ribbon

Thank you for looking!  Have a wonderful new year!!

Sweet November Princess Collection

Early last year I stumbled across a blog titled A Thousand Sheets of Paper and fell in love with a fairy named Coriander.  When I inquired as to where I could find the image, I discovered that Amy had hand drawn the beautiful fairy but not to fear, as All That Scraps would be releasing her in April.  That was February 2010 and I counted down the days to her release - just like most stampers, I too have an obsessive streak!.

My waiting paid off and I created this card with Coriander:

Today marks the fourth day of previews from Amy's newest release, The Princess Collection, on the All That Scraps blog!  Oh my!  The new dragon is delicious and the new princesses are AMAZING!  You can check them out here!  The new release will be available for purchase Monday, January 3rd, 2011 - What a fabulous way to ring in the new year!!!

See you all tomorrow with the first challenge of the new year from Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog!
