Christmas in August with Paper Sundaes

Happy Sunday!  This week's challenge on Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog is one that I've been waiting for - I ADORE Christmas!  I love the music, the decorations, the gift giving, and yes, even the snow!!  So I must admit that this challenge was picked by me, for my enjoyment - and hopefully yours too!

The challenge this week is 'Christmas in August' and we are excited to have our regular monthly sponsor Simon Says Stamp.  Last week when I began my card, Simon had in the new line of Chrismas paper by Imaginisce 'Cottage Christmas'.  Unfortunately they are sold out, but keep a look out in store as new products arrive often!  Simon does carry Prima Flowers, Memento ink, and Copic markers.

I followed this week's sketch at Sketch Saturday which is fabulous and coloured one of my cherished hÄnglar and stÄnglar stamps in copic markers.

This card will be entered into the following challenges:
Papertake Weekly - 3/2/1 (flowers/buttons/ribbon)
A Spoon Full of Sugar - 3 flowers, 2 buttons, 1 ribbon
Creative Card Crew - sparkle and shine (the paper is glossy/shiny and the Prima poinsettas are sparkly)
Cute Card Thursday - dieing for a punch (not a single punch or spellbinder used!)
Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - make a start on Christmas

Thank you for looking!  I look forward to seeing your Christmas creations on Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog!

Trick or Treat Lida

Last year about this time I came across a challenge blog where one of the DT's cards featured a beautiful stamp entitled 'Maya's Sled'.  I followed the link back to the individual's blog and discovered the origins of the stamp - Papilio Stamps.  Digging deeper I fell in love with 'Lida in the Garden' and a few more of their images.  Sadly I also discovered that no new stamps had been released in quite sometime and that it was difficult to get the older stamps in Canada.

Fast forward to last week, when I see another card featuring a Papilio Stamp on a challenge blog.  Once again I go hunting - and find new images!!!  The amazing new fairies sadly are not available in Canada, however I was able to order three of the older stamps from Hobby Norge.

As I wait impatiently for my order to arrive, Malin releases a digital Halloween stamp 'Trick or Treat Lida'.

I followed the sketch from Sweet Stop Sketches for this card and took time to practice colouring black with copics.

Thanks for looking!  See you again tomorrow!

A Paper Sundaes Sketch with Coriander Fairy

Funny how time sometimes seems to just slip by so quickly and sometimes so slowly.  I remember when I first saw Coriander on Amy's blog A Thousand Sheets of Paper this past spring.  The image was so amazing that I just had to e-mail Amy to find out where to get her!  Turns out Amy had just drawn her for that card but there was hope, as Amy's images sometimes find their way to being released under Sweet November.  Then time passed slowly as I waited over two months for her release.  With all this waiting I am surprised to find myself colouring her now for the first time!

This week on Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog the talented Crystal created a sketch for us all to follow.  I added Stampin' Up! dazzling diamonds to the edges of her wings, her dress, and even the top edges of the Wild Orchid flowers and leaf.

Trying once again to get more depth with my shadows and figure out dark brown hair with my copics.  (I encourage anyone with favorite hair colour combinations to please post them!)

Thank you for looking!  I look forward to seeing your interpretation of Crystal's sketch on Paper Sundaes for your chance to win two stamps from Paper Jewels!

My Forest Elf

I love the variety of images that Tracey carries at Spesch Designer Stamps and have thoroughly enjoyed my time on their DT.  With great sadness I write my last post as a member of their design team, but it won't be my last post with the fabulous images!  In fact I am looking forward to expanding my collection of Spesch clear stamps - and if you live in Canada or North America, then check out Paper Jewels for Spesch's fabulous images in clear.  For digital enthusiasts or those living outside of North America, check out the selection Tracey carries at Spesch Designer Stamps.

Recently I have been finding myself admiring card creators using copics who are producing coloured images with drastic shading effects.  I had to try this out myself by using Lyra and Koh-I-Noor coloured pencils over top of the copic markers.  I am happy with the results on My Forest Elf:

I followed the sketch at Cute Card Thursday, distressed the edges, and used foam squares to add dimension to the card.

Her dress and centers of the flowers have been glittered with Stampin' Up! dazzling diamonds.

Copics used:
Flowers BV0000/BV11/BV13
Leaves YG03/YG17
Dress BG0000/BG000/BG10/BG72 (tip to tip BG72/BG10) (shadows added w/pencils)
Face E000/E00 (additional face shadows and cheeks added with pencils)
Hair E30/E31/E33/E35/E37 (also touched up with pencils)

Thank you for looking!  Check out the new Spesch Design Team here and the fabulous DT creations here!

PaperWorks Co Ultimate Summer Challenge - My Turn!

So, what is a girl supposed to do when issued a colour challenge?  Dig through her stash for something that works?  No way!  This girl calls up her friend Chris for some shopping fun!  A huge thanks to Peggy at PaperWorks Co for introducing this girl to Echo Park!  For the colour challenge I just had to use a sheet from Sweet Summertime and two sheets from A Walk in the Park - I just love those colours and the beautiful patterns!

These papers paired beautifully with the Rachelle Anne Miller stamp Puddles of Fun

I used Stampin' Up! Crystal Effects to give the puddle extra sheen and the image is coloured with my beloved copic markers.  With Peggy's copic marker club and 5% emergency craft fund - I am often tempted to add to my collection!  This card follows the current sketch at Sketch Saturday.

I've added some of my favorite Wild Orchid flowers and a charm from Stamp and Create.

Charisma Cardz is looking for easel cards so I happily created one!  I fell in love with and married my husband of twelve years because of his sense of humour so I LOVE the matching sentiment for this image!

Thank you for looking!  As this is a team challenge, please check out the first card made by Crystal for the sketch challenge and the third card made by Christine for the inspiration challenge.  I am looking forward to seeing what the talented Danielle prepares for the yet unannounced technique challenge tomorrow!
