Happy 39 plus one!

Last year I fell in love with the artistic talent of Melissa Jenkins and actually had the honour of being a member of Meljen's Designs DT.  One of the first images to catch my eye was this beauty, A Girl and Her Overalls:

This layout is from Sunday Sketch and Stamp which requires stamping on your creation and while the image is a digi, the sentiment is from Stampin' Up!

Isn't this image the cutest?  I paired her up with Sunny Happy Skies patterned paper collection from Bella Blvd.

The inside of the card is a quote I found on the internet that is perfect for my friend's fortieth birthday.  Like most of us women, forty is not an age we appreciate.

Happy Easter Glamor Girl

Happy Easter to all of you who celebrate today!  And Happy Sunday! 

This week I thought I would check out one of the lines of stamps from Stamp and Create that I do not normally play with - Kenny K!  While I was checking out Lacey's store I was amazed by the variety of stamps she carries - CC Designs, Belles n' Whistles, High Hopes, Tickled Pink and Whiff of Joy - just to name a few!  I decided to create a card for my 14 year old, ipod obsessed, niece featuring Download Diva:

This week Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog has re-opened the Sundae Bar and are featuring the following four toppings: Sparkle, Pearls, Die Cuts, and the colour Yellow.  I chose to use die cuts and pearls:

 The layout is thanks to this week's sketch at The Sweet Stop.  As I mentioned on yesterday's post, I used the same gorgeous papers from Kaiser Kraft on both creations.

My niece's room is lime green and black so I used these two colours on the inside of the card and kept the rest clean and simple.

Happy Easter Tilda

Yesterday it dawned on me that I have all these gorgeous Easter stamps and papers - and I don't think I've done even one Easter card this year!  Out came a brand new piece of Xpress It cardstock and I stamped various Magnolia images and I settled in to enjoy a night of colouring on the couch next to my sick daughter.  Luck was not with me last night.  I managed to be just adding the final touches to my image, when my brand new copic marker decided to let out a drop of ink!  ARGH!  So, there went Tilda and her Bunny...and I moved on to Tilda holding egg basket:

Once again during the final touches on her basket, my copic marker (this time a different colour!) let out a drop of ink.  Hmmm.  Is someone trying to tell me I need to clean my house and not colour?  NAH!  Although I am finding the switch from Paper Trey Ink cardstock to Xpress It extremely difficult - any advice is greatly appreciated!

I embossed the sentiment on the front with Stampin' Up! black embossing powder and I followed the sketch at Card Patterns for a chance to win a gift certificate to Paper Makeup Stamps.

This gorgeous paper is from Kaiser Kraft and you will see it again tomorrow for my Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog creation!  I kept the inside simple although I did stitch along the edges of the patterned paper.

Welcome New Baby!

In early April my boss became a grandmother for the first time.  I respect my boss and like her taste, although it is generally more sophisticated style than I employ so I really struggled with this card.  I knew that she would not enjoy a "girly" card or even lots of pink and purple.  When I stumbled across Prima's Madeline Collection, and in particular the paper "Beautima", I finally became inspired.

I paired up the paper with Mo's Fairy Kiki:

I printed the baby's name on vellum and quickly embossed it with clear embossing powder right out of the printer.  I stitched the name on the very front of the card and kept the embellishments to a minimum - stitching and dazzling diamonds.

The image is coloured with copic markers - of course!  The card is actually an easel, with a beautiful sentiment / wish for the new baby girl:

I printed/embossed the baby's birth date, weight, and length.  My congratulations for the new grandma are actually on the very back of the card, out of sight when it is opened as an easel card.

Isn't that paper delicious?!  I have to go back to the store for another sheet!  Hard to imagine but that was just one sheet!  The brown cardstock is Bazzill and the blue is Stampin' Up!
