Making the Grade with Apple Girl

Hello Monday!  I really hope that you had a fabulous weekend!  This week's challenge at Karen's Doodles US Challenge Blog will have most everyone humming the wedding march.  Haven't we all heard the saying "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue"?  Yep.  Determined not to create a wedding or anniversary card, I focused on the individual pieces of the puzzle and once again, it all fell into place!

Something old - in the scrapbooking/cardmaking world, I'm going with the thought that paper I purchased five years ago is "old" - happily, cardstock doesn't really go "out of style"; also I recycled an old floral decoration that I had tucked away in the kids' craft box and created the apple stem

Something new - Crystal Effects and new Co-ordinations cardstock - love the raised alphabet on the black which reminds me of a blackboard in school

Something borrowed - let's see, where do I start?  I created this gem at my friend's house and had to borrow...her scissors, die cut machine, sand paper, cutter, and ATG glue gun - I packed light knowing that while our hubbies thought it was simply Easter dinner together, she and I would find a way to craft!

Something blue - cardstock, bows, stripes in the patterned paper and glittery apple

The image I wanted to showcase using the Crystal Effects is Apple Girl with her delicious, mouth-watering, shiny, bright red apple!

A second photo demonstrates the glossiness of the apple caused by using Crystal Effects.

The paper is from DCWV however I will caution you that I altered the order of the rows to get the effect I was looking for so it won't match exactly what is available in store.  The blue glitter apple and green leaf was cut out from one of the patterned papers.  I used a stem from an old floral decoration to create the stem of the apple.

Please join us this week at Karen's Doodles US Challenge Blog with your own interpretation of "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue".  I look forward to seeing what you create!

Apple Girl will be entered into the challenges at Friday Sketchers (oh I love that sketch!) and Simon Says Challenge (distressing).

Thank you for looking!

I would like to say "Thank You" to all of the fabulous blog hop participants.  An amazing 63 comments!  Using Random.org Min: 1 Max: 63 Winner is 39 - my5bratz!  Congratulations Ginny!  I will forward your information to Sandy who will send you Daisy Bunny from Karen's Doodles.
